The annual CHC Battle of the Brains 2024 was as intense as ever. The Alumni Team (Team Flame) and the the Student Team (Team Ice) duked it out in an intellectual trivia competition. After a hard-fought battle, the honors alumni WON the 2024 Battle of the Brains! Will the alumni continue their streak next year, or will the students come back with a vengeance?
On Friday, May 10th, the Campuswide Honors Student Council (CHSC) held the CHC Showcase where talented honors students could present a creative performance of their choice for all of the CHC community to enjoy. If you’re in need of a boost – a little pick-me-up to assure you that the students of today are up to the task of advocating for and repairing the world they’re inheriting from us, then take a gander at the CHC Sustainable Societies Showcase research projects.

The sixth annual Sustainable Societies Showcase held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, marked the six-quarter sequence capstone, the in-class poster presentations for the Cities: Focal Point for Sustainability Problems and Solutions course. Undergraduate students, collaborating in teams of 3 or 4, researched topics such as How can Southern California cities manage water usage, how can LA County reduce emissions from construction, How can the South Coast Air Basin reduce health impacts of air pollution, and many more!

It was great seeing so many alumni at the Celebration of Campuswide Honors Past and Future: Campuswide Honors Open House!

Campuswide Honors Alumni were invited to a special reception and opportunity to visit the Campuswide Honors Collegium’s (CHC) new space at UCI Homecoming on Saturday, March 2!

We had some of your favorite Campuswide Honors celebrities in attendance— directors, associate deans, faculty, and staff, including our new associate dean Brandon Golob!

Our quarterly Alumni Coffee Hour was held on Friday, May 24th. Every quarter, CHC alumni are invited to join students and staff in enjoying provided coffee and baked goods with each other. Alumni Coffee Hours is an opportunity for current honors students to network with their extensive alumni community. We enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces! Can’t wait to see you next quarter for our Fall Alumni Coffee Hour.

Honors donors sponsors weekly “coffee hours,” which are held each Friday morning from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in The Locus (Student Excellence Center, 508 Science Library). This is a relaxed, social time/place for the Honors community to connect and discuss what has been happening — in classes, on campus, and in the world at large.
