Welcome New Alumni!

Happy summer, fellow Campuswide Honors alumni!

I would like to take a moment to welcome our new alumni! Congratulations on graduating and embarking on the next step of your life!

Also, welcome to the Campuswide Honors Alumni chapter (CHA for short) where, with the support of both the CHC and the UCI Alumni Association (UCIAA), we keep in touch with you, provide opportunities to give back to honors students, and maybe even aid you in your post-UCI endeavors!

I’m Wayne Sung, the current President of the CHA, and I’m happy to report that in just this past year alone, my fellow board officers and I have organized, collaborated, and involved ourselves in numerous alumni and student events! (UCIAA has even noted we’re one of the most active alumni chapters!)

We introduced our in-person hangout event Nice to MeetCHA where honors alumni enjoy some fun bites and good company. We’ve had fellow alumni volunteer their time interacting with CHC students during our quarterly Alumni Coffee Hour with the CHSC. (Some of you may have attended yourselves!) We’ve collaborated with the OC Alumni Chapter on their holiday and beach parties, bringing live family fun to our alumni. Plus we’ve participated in UCI Homecoming with a games table and prizes, donated to CHSC’s fall festival, and hosted a Dinners With Anteaters!

For the future, we’re looking to bring back some online events we held during the pandemic so our non-local alumni can participate more. This could include an alumni spotlight to inspire fellow alumni, a gaming hangout for the family (Jackbox and Among Us were some games we hosted then), or a Zoom craft or baking hangout for some sweet fun! We are also planning to continue in-person programs like the ones mentioned above, as well as our hybrid flagship student-alumni networking event Honors to Meet You!

If any of these sound fun to you, we invite you to keep an eye on your email inbox and join in, plus consider joining the board in its efforts on behalf of CHC alumni and students.

We’re always looking for more people to help out and co-organize activities! I joined this chapter to give back to the Campuswide Honors people that supported me during my own undergrad years and also to help our alumni like you to still feel you are a part of the honors family.

Because graduating from UCI does not mean you have to say goodbye to the CHC.

We still remember you and you are always welcome back home!
