Locus is defined as “a central or main place where something happens or is found.”  The new CHC Locus at 510 Student Excellence Center on the 5th floor of the Science Library is indeed a focal point and safe environment for Honors students to gather to study, socialize, hold student council meetings, and more.  This is not a “quiet” study room.  The Locus is open for CHC student use during Science Library hours, unless otherwise noted in CHC-News.  You may obtain a key card to access this room from the Science Library Check Out Desk.  Key cards will need to be checked out and renewed quarterly.
There is a fee for lost key cards.

The Nordstrom Honors Study Room is a quiet study room located on the 4th floor of Langson Library, room 457. The room has sofas, soft seating, a study table, a whiteboard, robust wireless access, and plenty of power outlets for laptops. The Locus is open for CHC student use during Science Library hours, unless otherwise noted in CHC-News.  You may obtain a key card to access this room from the Langson Loan Desk. The same key card may be used to access the Locus in the Science Library.  Key cards will need to be checked out and renewed quarterly. There is a fee for lost key cards.

The Honors study room in the Science Library is room 532, a quiet study room that includes moveable tables, chairs, and laptop desks, as well as a whiteboard. The room also has internet hook ups, electrical outlets for laptops, and wireless access. You may obtain a hard key to access this room for up to 3 hours from the Science Library Check Out Desk. There is a fee for lost keys.
