The Campuswide Honors Collegium honors Frank Cancian, William J. Lillyman, and Ruth Kluger, who were valuable members of the Collegium and UCI communities.
Frank Cancian, professor emeritus of anthropology and documentary photographer as well as past Honors Social Science Core instructor, passed away on November 24, 2020. He is remembered dearly by his extended family of friends and colleagues throughout higher education for his collegiality, photography, and ethnographic research.
Professor emerita of German, Ruth Kluger, passed away on October 5, 2020. She was a prominent scholar of German literature and culture who was widely celebrated for her memoir, Still Alive: A Holocaust Girlhood Remembered, which has been taught as part of the Honors Humanities Core curriculum. She has had a permanent impact on Anteaters, scholars and readers.
William J. Lillyman, professor emeritus of German, dean of the School of Humanities, vice chancellor for academic affairs and executive vice chancellor during the establishment of the CHC as the Campuswide Honors Program, passed away on November 28, 2020. Lillyman has left the UCI campus and the School of Humanities with a legacy of achievement.
