Honors Alumni/Student Networking Event a Success!

CHP alumni discuss careers with current students at Honors to Meet You

The Campuswide Honors Program was happy to welcome alumni back to campus for a night of networking with current CHP students. Planned by the hard working CHP Alumni Board, Honors to Meet You was held on the evening of Wednesday, April 25 and was intended to supplement the CHP’s efforts to help students transition from college into the “real world.” Board members and officers Julia Emerson (’97), Wayne Sung (’99), Tiffany Yu (’11), J.R. Yonocruz (’13), Daisy Bautista (’16), and AJ Tan (’17) worked to make this event even better than last year’s.

Exploring everything from the American business handshake to career pathways to internship opportunities, the alumni and students covered a lot of ground! Present alumni represented career fields in technology and computer science, medicine and healthcare, law, arts administration and marketing, business, public policy, and psychology.

After a handshake primer, students were free to meet and mingle with the alumni. Following an hour or so of informal networking, the night was wrapped up with a raffle where two lucky students walked away with gift cards (one for Jersey Mike’s Subs and one Visa gift card) provided by CHP Alumni Board President, Julia Emerson. April 25th also happened to be UCI Giving Day, and the news that CHP donors had successfully met the final Giving Day challenge was an especially exciting end to the night!

Special thanks to alumni volunteers Ksatria Williams (’05), Michelle Maasz Brouwer (’14), Jennifer Hsia (’04), Kier Groulx (’14), and Dillon Dejam (’16) for helping the CHP Alumni Board make a difference for CHP students.
