  • Ben and Sarah (Barber) Allen, class of 2010, welcomed their daughter January Jean Allen into the world on October 16, 2017. She was born in Eugene, Oregon.
  • Beginning in Spring 2018, Kristine Hunt (’93) is an adjunct instructor in the History Department at Idaho State University where she is teaching US History and Culture from a material culture perspective with an emphasis on women’s and minority experiences.
  • Katherine Lee (’12) has started a new position managing educational material inventory for Irvine Unified School District. She is currently part of the administrative team in charge of curriculum distribution for every public school site in Irvine. Also, she has a new betta fish!
  • Nelson Liu (’15) will attend Northeastern Law School in Boston.
  • Peter Niu (’16) received the MEXT Scholarship allowing him to study and conduct research at the Tokyo Institute Technology in the Maruyama Laboratory.
  • Mike Normandia (’13) returned to UCI in 2017 to help run AntMedia in the Student Center, and as of April 2018 is back in the Film & Media Studies department running the gear checkout bay, editing lab, McCormick screening room, and the faculty media library.
  • Joseph Nunez (’93) graduated from Wayne State University with his J.D. in May 2018. He will be taking the California Bar Exam in July and heading back to California soon after!
  • Armaan Rowther (’13) and wife Mehwish welcomed their son, Esa Muhammad Rowther, into the world on March 1st.
  • Delia (Lee) Takagi (’06) and husband Mark Takagi celebrated the birth of their child, Gertrude Rose Takagi, on April 3rd in Richland, Washington.
  • Sang Truong (’17) received a 2018 NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program Award for his Ph.D. research in Math Analysis at UCLA.
  • Sabrina (Dayala) Villalba and Herman Villalba were married after graduating from UCI in 2000. Since then they accepted Research fellowships at The National Institutes of Health before attending UCLA School of Medicine. They now both engage in international medical missions and also assist other professionals with real estate investment portfolios.
  • Proud parents Kimberly Vera (Dambkowski) Yang (’05) and Jack Tsung-lin Yang (UCI ’06) welcomed their first child. Juliana Vera was born on January 24 at 10:50 pm, weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces and measuring 19.5 inches long. The whole family is healthy and happy!
