Honors Experience Day Frequently Asked Questions
What is Honors Experience Day?
This is an invitation-only event for students invited to join the Campuswide Honors Program (CHP) that introduces you to the Campuswide Honors Program, UC Irvine, and the schools and majors. You will meet honors faculty, staff, and students, and have the opportunity to take a tour of the campus and of honors housing. This event is taking place during a school day, so you will be able to experience the UC Irvine campus bustling and fully alive. Because the campus is so busy, we advise attendees to plan plenty of time for parking and check-in.

PLANNING FOR HONORS EXPERIENCE DAY
How do I sign up for this event?
Please use the RSVP website. Since we expect this event to fill, we would appreciate it if you could email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know if your plans change and you are unable to attend. Attendance will not affect your eligibility for the Campuswide Honors Program.
How do I get there?
For general information on the UC Irvine campus, maps, and transit, go to Visit UCI.
I would like to bring more than one guest, or a friend. Is this possible?
Unfortunately, due to space limitations, we are only able to allow one guest. We are also unable to accommodate friends, since this is a day designed for students who have been invited to join the Campuswide Honors Program. There are other ways your friends can get to know UCI. Further information about UCI is available on the Admissions website.
What if I have to leave early or arrive late? Can I still attend a portion of the event?
Yes, however, please email us at email@example.com ahead of time and let us know of your arrival time, so we can help you with your plans. The event takes place at various locations in the UCI Student Center and other campus locations, and we don’t want you to get lost.
I am a person with a disability and need reasonable accommodation for Honors Experience Day. What should I do?
Please email the CHP office at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call us at (949) 824-5461 to request reasonable accommodation. A member of our staff will contact you during regular business hours regarding your request. Please be sure to let us know about your needs ahead of time, as we may not be able to accommodate last minute requests.
What if I can’t attend this event?
Another great way to get to know the CHP is to attend our information session on Saturday, April 22nd at UCI’s annual open house and admissions event, Celebrate UCI. Celebrate UCI includes tours of the campus and housing, plus the opportunity to meet representatives from UCI’s schools. The CHP information session will take place from 2:30-4:00 p.m. Please watch your email in early April for further information on this event.
If you have questions about student life in the CHP and would like to be contacted by a CHP student, or if you would like to request a brief campus visit with the CHP, go to the CHP Prospective Student page for further information.
I have questions about scholarships. Who should I contact?
All financial aid, including the Regents’ Scholarship, is administered by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid directly at (949) 824-8262 or log on to MyAid if you have questions about financial aid.
I have been invited to an information session in my school or major. Will it conflict with the rest of the program on this day?
There should be no conflicts. The morning begins with a general information session about UC Irvine and the Campuswide Honors Program. The school/major sessions take place after that session.
I have not declared a major yet. Will there be an information session for me at this event?
Yes. There will be a special session for Undeclared students.
Will I be able to attend an Honors class at this event?
We are excited to offer a sample CHP class to all attendees during the opening session of the event.
NAVIGATING HONORS EXPERIENCE DAY: WHAT TO EXPECT
What should I bring with me?
Bring your registration receipt with you to check-in, either on your cellphone or printed out. Many students find it helpful to take notes at Honors Experience Day, so a small notebook and pen are recommended. A refillable water bottle can also be helpful.
Where can I eat lunch during Honors Experience Day?
There are many lunch choices at the on-campus food courts located in the Student Center. Another great option is to purchase your lunch in the dining commons, located in the Middle Earth or the Mesa Court housing communities. Information on dining in the commons will be provided to you when you check in at Honors Experience Day.
What should I wear to this event?
We recommend that you wear comfortable shoes and clothing. If you plan to take a campus and Honors Housing tour, you will be walking around the campus, and comfortable shoes are recommended (no flip-flops or high heels). In case of rain, please bring an umbrella and rain gear.
When is the day scheduled to end?
Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m., with the formal program lasting from 8:30-11:15 a.m. Beginning at 11:30 a.m., options include taking a tour of campus and Honors Housing, dropping by the Life in Honors Table Fair to talk to students involved in CHP activities, and having lunch. Tours last approximately an hour. If you choose to eat lunch before or after your tour, please factor that time into your planning as well.
I’ve decided I want to be part of the CHP. What’s next?
In order to accept your invitation, you must submit your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to UC Irvine no later than May 1st. That is also the deadline to RSVP to the CHP by emailing us at email@example.com with your name and student I.D. number and a statement indicating that you plan to accept your invitation to join the CHP. We need to hear from you either way. Welcome to UCI!
